About Anina Swan

Survivor, advocate, and author of "Alligator in the Ocean” shares her true story of survival and triumph over evil.

After acknowledging and accepting I was a victim of crime during my childhood, I turned my personal trauma into a mission of healing. Inspired by family and friends, I decided to share my story through writing. My goal is to inspire others who’ve faced similar crises and show them that healing is possible even when it seems impossible.

Through faith, support from loved ones, and professional help, my family and I discovered tangible strength to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles caused by adversity from the wounds of criminal abuse. I’ve dedicated this website to providing resources and encouragement to those on their own healing journeys.

From Darkness to Light: Your Strength Can Conquer Any Storm

In life’s darkest moments, when hope seems out of reach and challenges feel insurmountable, remember this: you were created with an inner strength far greater than any obstacle you face. Every survivor’s story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, created by a God who loves us more than we can fully comprehend. No matter how long the night, God never leaves us or forsakes us, and when the morning breaks, He is there to provide us with his unfailing love.

Your journey may be difficult, but it is not impossible. With each step forward, no matter how small, you’re proving that the power to overcome exists in you. Reach out, seek support, and always remember you’re not alone in this fight.

Your story isn’t over—it’s still being written, and you have the power to shape its course. Believe in who God created you to be. He equips you with courage to transform pain into purpose and adversity into triumph.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

  • "She weaves three narrative points of view—one of the child victims in third person, her adult self in first person, and the predator through his letters to his wife. Without the ugly details, Swan masterfully reveals the stages of discovery, vindication, and healing."

  • "Anina writes powerfully of her journey with God from a life of betrayal, abuse, danger, and confusion into radiant health and trust in Him.  She skillfully shares her experiences in a way which does not mitigate the details of the crimes committed against her, but rather shows how God used those very events to build her faith and bring her to healthy, Godly adulthood."

  • "I am wowed and moved. Alligator in the Ocean is a rare and precious gift—both powerfully written and emotionally authentic. Through the short point-of-view chapters, Anina reveals how hope emerges alongside pain, and how freedom gradually deepens through relationships and faith. This book is like a wise, kind friend walking alongside the reader’s own journey, offering both solace and direction."

My journey from victim to survivor taught me that healing, while challenging, is possible. The path isn't always straight or easy, but each step forward matters. Through sharing my story, I've seen how breaking the silence can empower not just individuals, but entire communities.
